rope & line

Home insulation

Rope and line previously used to catch seafood was redeployed as home insulation when low fish stocks made fishing untenable. The material, which washed up on our shores in huge quantities, created eye-catching and colourful floor and wall coverings, albeit with a slightly fishy aroma. Many people found this smell attractively nostalgic.
